Mayor of Baltimore, Sheila Dixon, undoubtedly has fans, but it would seem that she is finding herself in a situation where fate has awarded her more enemies than friends.

Nearly 11 months after being indicted by a grand jury on 12 counts of wrongdoing, including four counts of perjury and two of theft over $500, Mayor Dixon arrived to court in a Black suit to begin answering for her crimes.

The charges stem from allegations that Dixon swindled numerous homeless families out of gift cards that were donated for their use, of which, she used to buy clothing, electronics, and other miscellaneous items for herself and various family members.

This particular trial marks the first of two for the presumed disgraced mayor, her facing two counts of felony theft, three counts of fraudulent misappropriation by a public official, one count of theft, and one count of misconduct in office.

“I think that I have done an extraordinary job in focusing on the business of the city, because that’s what the people elected me to do,” remarked Dixon to Baltimore’s WBAL-TV.

Mayor Dixon is also facing a second trial for perjury due to her allegedly failing to disclose gifts that she gave in several situations. No trial date has been set for the case due to it being held up in Maryland’s Court of Special Appeals.

If found guilty of any wrongdoing, Dixon will be immediately removed from office, after which, she will receive severe jail time.
