This past year and change, Hip-Hop became acquainted with a diverse group of West Coast MCs who with their powers combined are known as Black Hippy. XXL Magazine recently caught up with the crew, which is comprised of  Kendrick LamarJay RockScHoolboy Q and Ab-Soul for a photo shoot. Luckily for us, XXL provided us with some behind the scenes footage of the always entertaining group.

Between 2011 and 2012, we saw Top Dawg Entertainment operate like a well oiled machine, resulting in Kendrick Lamar receiving a major label deal with Interscope/Aftermath and his fellow Black Hippies each receiving deals with Interscope. Through it all, the MCs have remained humble and hardworking, awhile dropping an array of great projects, including ScHoolboy Q’s Habits & Contradictions, Ab-Soul’s Control System, Jay Rock’s Follow Me Home, and Kendrick Lamar’s Section.80.

K. Dot will be the first to drop a project under the Interscope imprint, as he preps his major label debut, Good Kid, m.a.a.d. City.

Black Hippy’s feature appears in the July/August issue of XXL with Rick Ross on the cover, which is on newsstands July 14th. Check out the footage down below.
