While Mitt Romney continues to clean up the mess caused by a leaked video from a fundraiser with wealthy donors, President Obama is firing back.  Romney was recorded saying that 47 percent”  of Americans will ultimately vote for Obama regardless of his policies because they are “dependent on government” and see themselves as “victims.”

The commander in chief’s cabinet blasted Romney for separating himself from average citizens. “When you’re president of the United States, you are president of all people—not just the people who voted for you,” said White House spokesman, Jay Carney.

A message was posted on the president’s Twitter page, further embedding his thoughts on Romney’s comments. “We can’t afford a president who says ‘my job is not to worry about 47% of the American people,” alongside a photo of a newly created  “responsibility map,” for Romney.

Late Monday (Sept. 17), Romney explained his comments, admitting that he could have stated his views more “clearly” and “effectively,” but the damage is the latest in a series of missteps which may hinder his bid for president. The liberal magazine Mother Jones, which first obtained the footage, promised to leak more videos, the most recent of which shows him commenting on Israel and Palestine. “He discussed various foreign policy positions, sharing views that he does not express in public, including his belief that peace in the Middle East is not possible and a Palestine state is not feasible,” the publication wrote Tuesday (Sept. 18).

The latest in a string of damaging blows, comes as Romney is in California looking to snag the coveted Hispanic vote.
