Acclaimed actor Morgan Freeman is using his voice to elicit support for President Obama. Freeman, narrates a new ad for the commander in chief, in which he outlines the “challenges” inherited by the Obama administration.
“Few have faced so many,” Freeman says of Obama’s political position. “Four years later our enemies have been brought to justice. Our heroes are coming home. Assembly lines are humming again. There are still challenges to meet. Children to educate. A middle class to rebuild. But the last thing we should do…is turn back now.”
The 75-year-old is one of many Black celebrities who have publicly thrown their support behind Obama’s bid for re-election. Last month, Samuel L. Jackson released his “Wake the F-ck Up” ad warning voters not to get on board with Mitt Romney’s campaign. Jackson also admitted to voting for the president solely because of his skin color, further driving the notion that Black people side with the Obama based on race rather than policy. Although this notion hasn’t been proven beyond doubt, the backlash received by Clueless actress Stacey Dash, following her decision to endorse Romney, has many looking at race as being a strong issue in the November election.
Both candidates are gearing up for the second installment of debates to take place Tuesday (Oct. 16) in New York.
