Brown’s agent, Warren Legarie, announced that his client got the pink slip Friday (Nov. 9), a move which comes as no surprise if you’ve been watching Laker games this season. The team has a 1-4 record, losing their first three games since the season kicked off.
Speculation that Bryant, new team member Dwight Howard, and probably every Laker fan in America, wanted Brown to get the boot has been circulating for a while, but after the season started that pretty much sealed the deal. After Bryant shot Brown the “I’ma beat the sh-t out of you” glare the other night, the shooting guard told the media that he could care less what anyone thought of his actions. “I don’t give a [expletive] how it was interpreted,” he said. “It doesn’t really matter to me. I’m too old to deal with that stuff. I really am. I’ve been (Brown’s) biggest supporter. So, I’m really too old to be dealing with childish things.”
Pau Gasol also got in on the Brown hate, but took a more politically correct stance. “We’re trying to encourage positivism around us. We’re going through a tough stretch right now. We knew we were going to face some adversity. We didn’t predict it was going to be early on, but at the same time, I think it’s going to help us down the road to face it, hopefully, now and not later.”
The Lakers are set to play Golden State tonight, and given the news, they might just take home a “W.”
