It appears that Beyoncé’s hiatus from music and the general spotlight is over, this after inking a reported $50 million deal with soft drink beverage company Pepsi that was hinted at last October. According to a New York Times report, the deal just isn’t about selling sugary soda pop, but also a partnership in bringing Jay-Z’s other half back to the masses in full force.
Pepsi and Beyoncé have partnered together for ad campaigns over the past decade, but the current deal adds a new wrinkle with the company featuring the singer’s likeness on a limited edition release of Pepsi soda cans. Pepsi will also be working with Beyoncé in promoting her upcoming and highly anticipated fifth studio album, along with other collaborative marketing products.
“Pepsi embraces creativity and understands that artists evolve,” said Beyoncé in a statement. “As a businesswoman, this allows me to work with a lifestyle brand with no compromise and without sacrificing my creativity.”
The latest TV ad will air shortly after her Super Bowl 2013 Halftime performance in February, with this being the fifth spot she’s shot for Pepsi since joining with the company back in 2002. It is assumed that the photos that leaked to the press last October showing the curvy entertainer in striking blue stilettos pushing a cart of sodas will serve as part of the print portion of the campaign.
While Bey’s album has neither a title or release date, it is anticipated to drop some time in 2013 along with a promotional world tour sponsored by Pepsi.
