For a rapper, French Montana is a man of few words, at least during interviews. The Bad Boy artist did comment, sort of, on his buddy Rick Ross, one of the executive producers of his new album, losing his Reebok deal and on talk of him being the King of New York.

As for Rozay and Lil Wayne recently losing spokesman deals with Reebok and Mountain Dew respectively, he said, “I just feel like we make gangsta rap. We make Hip-Hop. I feel like that kind of music we make is not for everybody. There’s a different lane for this, there’s a different lane for that.”

Hahhn!?

The “Shot Caller” rapper also spoke being crowned the next “King of New York.” “French Montana is the crown holder of the city. That’s big for me,” he said. “I came from being the most blackballed, to the most loved. I don’t want to say I’m the King of New York. I’m the crown holder right now. There comes a time when everybody becomes the crown holder, but we just going to keep getting hotter and hotter.”

French Montana’s debut album, Excuse My French, is finally out May 21. Watch the interview, which includes French explaining why his album is classic, below.

Let us know what you think of his claims in the comments.
