Thanks to social media, domestic violence are speaking out and gaining public support for the abuse they endure. Unfortunately, it hasn’t quelled the cases from actually happening, an issue law enforcement is still working on across the board.Domestic violence knows no social status boundaries, affecting celebrities and sports figures alike, and Angela Brower of Covington, TN is the latest share her story to hopefully prevent it from happening to others.
The 37-year-old waitress has been keeping a photo journal on Facebook of her injuries which included bone fragments being smashed into her face and a broken orbital bone. Following the breakup with her boyfriend on May 18, she was viciously attacked when he felt some kind of way about having to move his stuff out of their home. Walter Frank Bradley was subsequently charged with aggravated assault but the road to recovery didn’t end there for Brower.
She told the Huffington Post that her injuries required surgery, which cost money that she didn’t have.
“The orbital bone around my eye was completely shattered and my nose was broken on both sides and very displaced,” she said. “I have health insurance, but it only covers half the costs. “I don’t want to lose everything I have because I fell in love with the wrong person.”
Last Thursday, doctors place a metal ring around her eye to keep it from collapsing and while she her body has been healing rather nicely, she said her spirit still has work to do.
“”I want to raise awareness for women who are afraid and ashamed of what has been done to them. They blame themselves. I want them to know that it is not their fault,” she says in reference to her online photo documentary.
