Just for the record, we called this. The NBA’s top draft pick, Andrew Wiggins, has signed an endorsement deal with adidas Basketball.
The announcement was made as all things are done nowadays, via Twitter. “Welcome to the family, @22wiggins. #teamadidas,” read the tweet which features a photo of Wiggins shooting a J along with the words “The future starts now.”
“Joining the adidas family is a blessing and an honor and I am extremely excited for what lies ahead. Knowing that this elite brand is welcoming me into the family with such esteem gives me a great deal of pride. Our collaboration couldn’t be more organic both personally and professionally and I look forward to moving to the next level with the brand,” said the Toronto native via a formal press statement.
Wiggins also took to Instagram (see photo on the flip) to share the news. “Been waiting for this day. Happy to be joining the @adidashoops fam! #teamadidas,” he wrote.
No word on how much the deal is worth, yet, but best believe it is hefty amount. Wiggins was picked first in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Your move, LeBron.
