On January 25, 2000, D’Angelo released Voodoo, his second full-length, studio album of original material. With hits like “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” the project was certified platinum within three months.

Then we waited, waited, and waited. After 14 years and 11 months, D’Angelo has returned with a follow up album, Black Messiah. Was it worth the wait? Only time will tell.

And speaking of time, you can put things in context by looking at 15 happenings since D’Angelo’s last album. After all, you and your friends are probably texting, and talking about the album via Twitter and Facebook. None of those three methods of communication were really popping the last time D dropped an album.
