Earlier today (July 21), the 2015 MTV VMA Nominations were revealed in full and Nicki Minaj is none too pleased.
Although The Pinkprint rapper was recognized for her “Anaconda” video in the Best Hip-Hop and Best Female categories, there was a clear omission when it came to the Video of the Year slot.
“If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year,” Nicki tweeted, alluding to the obvious shade with a gang of emojis.
The Video of the Year nominees included BeyoncĂ©’s “7/11,″ Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud,” Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar’s cameo-laden “Bad Blood,” Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” and Kendrick Lamar’s recently released  “Alright.” What was well enough left alone was shaken and stirred by a response from Swift herself.
“I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot,” Swift rattled off on Twitter. A confused Nicki wondered why she had been addressed by the megastar but it doesn’t appear any diss tracks or “Bad Blood” remixes will be spawned from this.
Nicki then blasted Ryan Seacrest’s site for trying to perpetrate a beef between the two singers but no soon after, Nicki retweeted a fan who said, “Stop using ‘support all girls’ as an excuse to not be critical of racist media that benefits and glorifies you.”
While we make sense of this debacle, hit the gallery to see the full exchange of words.
