We’re currently living in the times where Hip-Hop possessing conscious thinking and substance is more vital than ever. It it’s a rap album of the like you seek, look no further than Talib Kweli and 9th Wonder’s first-ever collaboration, Indie 500. The project shares its name with the conglomerate the Brooklyn MC and North Carolina recently formed with Pharoahe Monche and W.A.R. Media imprint and delivers exactly the type of social awareness you would expect from such a pairing.

Fresh off The Tonight Show appearance illuminated by a Rapsody feature, the Indie 500 album expands on the sentiment heard on the record “Every Ghetto” lyrics of “We bout to twist it up/We bout to lift it up/We never giving up.”

Artists such as Monch, Tef Poe, Problem, Bad Lucc and GQ spit their realisms over production split between 9th Wonder and his longtime cohorts, Khrysis, Nottz, E. Jones and the one and only Hi-Tek.

Listen to Indie 500 down below ahead of its Friday, November 6 and pre-order the album on iTunes if you’re feeling it.
