Big Kap, a veteran NYC DJ, has passed away. He was 45-years-old.
This morning (Feb. 3), Funkmaster Flex posted a picture of Kap on Instagram with the caption “Rest in peace…. Big Kap…”
Kap made a name for himself spinning alongside Flex at the legendary The Tunnel nightclub in the 90s and was a member of the Flip Squad and Big Dawg Pitbulls DJ crews. Kap and Flex dropped an album called The Tunnel in 1999.
Most recently, Kap could be heard on Internet radio station Highly Unique Radio in Atlanta.
The reactions and condolences for Big Kap have come flooding in on social media from his peers and artists whose records he helped break. See some tributes below and in the gallery.
No cause of death has been announced at the time. Rest in power Big Kap.
