Summer is only weeks away and there’s still no clear cut anthem for the season. In fact, radio pretty much spins a set of older tracks, some of which date back to the top of this year. What’s the issue here? Are our favorite rappers above dropping tunes for cookouts and turn ups?
Hopefully not, but from the looks of it, MCs are opting to ride the success of past singles until the wheels fall off. So much so that the Internets have received an unusual amount of remixes for hit records in past weeks.
Some would say building on something already hot is the smart approach. Others believe artists are being stingy with their new material. Regardless of your stance, this is the best we’ve gotten so far.
Here’s a quick update. MMG, YMCMB, and DJ Khaled’s We The Best Music Group have formed a rat pack of sorts, with Future Vandross serving as their hired assassin. Meanwhile Juicy J continues to pop up here, there, and seemingly everywhere. Even the big homie Jay-Z briefly pumped the brakes on his business endeavors to hop on a popular jam.
We’ve compiled a list of the top summer remixes as we see it, or at least until someone steps of to the plate and drops some new tunes. Turn your volume up loud and hit the jump for a few summer essentials.

1o. Trinidad Jame$ ft. Juicy J – “Females Welcomed” (Remix)
The gold toothed rapper connects with the Juiceman for a remix to his Don’t Be S.A.F.E. track. “All Gold Everything” continues to trumps all, though.
9. Rocko ft. Wiz Khalifa – “U.O.E.N.O.” (Remix)
The Atlanta rapper could have kept each and every one of his “U.O.E.N.O.” remixes with exception to this one.
8. French Montana ft. DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Wale, Mavado, & Nicki Minaj – “Freaks” (Remix)
Just one of many tracks to come from the MMG-YMCMB-WTBMG collective.
7. Future ft. Birdman, French Montana, & Rick Ross – “Karate Chop” (Remix)
Here’s another. We told you Future was their X factor.
6. A$AP Ferg ft. A$AP Rocky, Trinidad Jame$, & ScHoolboy Q – “Work” (Remix)
Fans had to wait a while for the Trap Lord’s remix, but it dropped just in time for summer. Let’s see what it does.
5. Ace Hood ft. Wiz Khalifa, Meek Mill, T.I., French Montana, 2 Chainz, Birdman, DJ Khaled, & Future – “Bugatti” (Remix)
The WTBMG/YMCMB spitter abuses his plus ones on this remix.
4. B.o.B ft. T.I., Young Jeezy, Young Dro & Yo Gotti – “We Still In This” (Remix)
The Hustle Gang rapper is indeed “still in this,” and he brings a few friends as well.
3. Juicy J ft. Pimp C, Young Jeezy, & T.I. – “Show Out” (Remix)
Perhaps the most unsung remix on the list, the Juiceman goes as far as to grab a verse from the late Pimp C. How could this not be hot?
2. DJ Khaled ft. Drake, Rick Ross, & Lil Wayne – “No New Friends” (SFTB Remix)
Most either don’t know or forget that this is the “Started From the Bottom” remix. We also respect the crew for switching up the beat like a true remix should.
1. Kendrick Lamar ft. Jay-Z – “B**ch Don’t Kill My Vibe” (Remix)
K. Dot’s good kid, m.A.A.d city track was hot enough to earn a verse from the Big Homie. Case closed.
