Michael Jackson remains in a class of his own in most categories — style being one of them. For some, the legend’s fashion choices are almost as highly lauded as the music he created. The world knows of his iconic moments like the infamous red leather he sported in the iconic “Thriller” video or the black outfit he wore in “Bad,” but truth be told, Jackson could be caught wearing some fine digs on a leisurely day.

It’s been five years since the King of Pop’s untimely death. To celebrate Jackson’s legacy and overall influence, Hip-Hop Wired decided to put a spotlight on some of his most stylish moments. Notice that some of the looks her sported are popular trends in present day.

Enjoy the gallery on the following pages. Rest in power Michael Jackson.

Let this photo be proof that fashion and style comes in cycles.

From the ring to the beaded belt to the shirt made from ambiguous materials, we’d bet that you couldn’t tell young Michael a thing about this ensemble.

Even as a young lad, MJ was dapper.

MJ managed to make looking like a walking acid trip fashionable. Greatness personified.

The red leather jacket is a staple for MJ in or outside of music videos, apparently.

We don’t recommend wearing this on the streets.

MJ went out of the box with the bedazzled sweater. Whether this a style risk that you’d opt to rock, it’s hard not to admire the originality.

Sleeves rolled on a sweater and a bow tie in tow is how Michael Jackson handled his.

It’s clear that MJ knew the meaning of the fixings at a young age.

Do you see the flavor young Michael was kicking?

Rule no. 39597: You can never go wrong with a varsity jacket.

Jackson threw on the oxford with the houndstooth hat just to stunt on the haters. Well, probably not, but this is a dapper look.

A very rare facial hair sighting on the singers part, but the brown suit, hat, and sunglasses combo earns him another strike in the wins column.

Michael pulled out the red overcoat with his name on it. Ha!

Well played, MJ. Well played.
