It’s Friday people. This means it’s time to unwind while listening to some quality tunes, and what better way to do that than with The Wrap Up: Hip-Hop Wired’s Top 10 Songs Of The Week?

To answer the question, there is none. And because we’re so kind, we’ve assembled a list of worthy music from both familiar and new artists for your ear holes.

The last seven days didn’t deliver an influx of great releases like we’ve seen in past weeks. However, New York was well represented by both the up-and-coming generation and the veterans. MCs also had lyrics to go, so don’t expect much, if any, fluff here.

Hit the jump to hear our selections.

Rich Kidd ft. Denzil Porter & LordQuest – “A Vibe Called Quest”

A little inspiration from Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad went a long way on this one.

World’s Fair – “Sammy Sosa”

See above if you wonder why this NYC collective are bubbling so fast.

The LOX – “Summers Too Hot” (Prod. By Scram Jones)

The Hip-Hop veterans provided a heaping helping of the gritty street rap the game sorely lack. For that alone they deserved to make this list.

Joey Bada$$ – “Killuminati Pt. 2” (Kendrick Lamar Response)

Better late than never, Pro Era’s frontman issued a response to the Compton MC. It doesn’t trump the original, but it’s ill nonetheless.

Yancey Boys ft. Common & Dezi Paige – “Quicksand” (Prod. By J Dilla)

Jay Dee’s little brother and Frank Nitt tapped Common Sense from the city of wind on this smooth tune, produced by the fallen Detroit legend.

Roc Marciano – “Sh*t Hard” (Prod. By Frank The Butcher & Paul Mighty)

The verbal imagery is real on this drop from the Staten Island lyricist.

Pusha T ft. Chris Brown – “Sweet Serenade”

King Push hasn’t compromised his integrity for a single yet. We don’t know what that will mean for radio play, but this track is ill.

The Foreign Exchange – “Call It Home/Pity”

Phontigallo and Nicolay are back. And we repeat, Phontigallo and Nicolay are back.

Fat Joe ft. Action Bronson “Your Honor” (Prod. By DJ Premier)

Joey Crack was sure to deliver this Premo-produced gem before serving his four month skid bid. Appreciate you, O.G.

Danny Brown – “ODB”

Say what you want about the Fool’s Gold rapper. He has bars — lots of them.
