What better way to spend your Friday afternoon than to catch up on new music from a few ill artists? Don’t answer that. Instead, take heed to our recommendation via The Wrap Up: Hip-Hop Wired’s Top 10 Songs Of The Week.
The past seven days have been fairly quiet if you’re looking for quality releases on a mainstream front. However, a list of bubbling up-and-comers delivered some very listenable tunes for your enjoyment. A few even have the potential to crossover sooner than later, so we suggest you hop on this early adopter wave, stat.
No particular region out shined another this time around, unlike previous editions.
Get your fill of what happened this week on the audible side of Hip-Hop through The Wrap Up on the following pages.

Ro James ft. Snoop Dogg – “’84”
This Queens crooner connected with Snoop Lion and ended up with an ill result.
Nickelus F – “Yellow Gold 2”
Please excuse the NSFW visual, and focus on the smooth tunes from the Virginia native.
King Mez – “New Vinyl” (Prod. by Oddisee)
Add another MC to North Carolina’s growing list of worthy lyricist.
Guilty Simpson & Small Professor – “On The Run”
Detroit has a lineage of thorough MCs that can go toe to toe with anyone lyrically. See an example here.
Meek Mill – “Kendrick You Next” Freestyle (Cassidy Diss)
Honestly, this is how we want the Philly spitter to sound more often. Also, not a single “Bugatti,” “Maserati,” or “Rollie” was chanted on this release.
Homeboy Sandman – “Musician”
Not many MCs can vividly explain themselves on wax like this Queens MC. Peep as he expounds on how he feels about other confining him to one genre rather than as a great musician overall.
Rick Ross ft. Future – “No Games”
Though we’d prefer to hear the Bawse on less of the same production, this is certainly a standout among his latest releases.
Action Bronson – “Drug Sh*t”
Bronsolino continues his verbal onslaught with a dynamic display of lyricism on this one.
Freddie Gibbs & Madlib – “Deeper”
MadGibbs’ forthcoming “Piñata” album is easily one of the more anticipated bodies of work around these parts. Here’s why.
Dom Kennedy – “South Central Love”
Though we’re not too pleased with the timing of its release, the Leimert Park, Los Angeles native certainly delivered a buttery smooth track to usher in the fall season.
