Yesterday, Nipsey Hussle delivered a documentary called #Crenshaw in support of his upcoming mixtape of the same title. Los Angeles bred him as a man and a MC, and this visual piece (courtesy of Civil TV) explains how, where, and more.
“In terms of me using it [Crenshaw] for the title of my project, I just think that is was one word that can sum up what I represent to this music right now,” Nipsey said. “It’s the foundation to my personality and my story; it’s where it took place at.”
Like many LA rappers before him, Neighborhood has a noted gang affiliation — one that he speaks on here. However, he separates that life from his career.
“It’s 2013. We know the change that’s taking place. We know the outlets and connection and the reach that artists can have. And my thing is, I want every penny I’m entitled to,” he explained.
