Morgan State University’s chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi—a historically Black fraternity—is under fire for allegedly denying a student from pledging because of his sexual orientation.
Brian Stewart appeared to be the model scholar–one that fraternity’s typically look for. He was said to be a business major not to mention a former White House intern.
After being rejected a day after his interview with Kappa Alpha Psi, he apparently did some prying and found what he thinks is the real reason behind his denial.
Reports the Baltimore Sun:
A Morgan State spokesman, Jarrett Carter Sr., said the university opened an investigation into Stewart’s allegation after he lodged a complaint last week.
“The university doesn’t tolerate or accept any kind of discrimination,” Carter said. “It’s something that the university takes very very seriously.”
Carter said that discrimination — in Greek life or elsewhere — is against university policy and that those found in violation can face disciplinary action after a review by a panel of students, faculty and staff.
He also told the paper he got wind of anti-gay slurs through social media.
