The CEO of Tennessee’s Hospitality Association that sent out a “humorous” email comparing the First Lady of the United States to a chimpanzee has been fired.
The Hospitality Association made the announcement Monday that Walt Baker was removed from his position after sending out the controversial email.
As previously reported, Baker sent out the email last week with a picture that shows the First Lady with her lips pursed while speaking at a venue. Above her is a chimpanzee making a similar expression.
Since the melee Baker has released a statement saying,
“I deeply apologize to anyone who is offended by this action. I hope that those who know me realize that the message was not intended to be malicious or hurtful in any way and can find it in their hearts to forgive me.”
Baker insists that he only meant in to be “political humor.”
