The visual support for Pharrell’s G I R L LP has been as impressive as the music itself. But things reached a whole new level over the weekend, as lovers of fine art attended a gallery curated by the Neptune.
The group show (also titled “G I R L”) occupied Galerie Perrotin’s newest space in Paris. Pharrell was present during opening day to give some words to press and attendees. He even posed for photos with fans.
“You know that film Being John Malkovich? Going to an artist’s studio is like that, like walking around inside someone’s brain,” Pharrell said.
A KAWS-designed piece was previewed prior to opening day. Forty pieces in total by a whopping 32 artists, including 10 specially commissioned for the exhibition, are featured in the gallery.
“Just like my album [G I R L], what I tried to do is offer many different facets of my appreciation for women…I love women everywhere. I make no apologies for the wide spectrum of affinity for women,” explained the Grammy winner.
Hit the jump for a photo recap from the “G I R L” gallery after the jump.
