President Barack Obama will hold his fifth press conference since taking office tonight. The main push of the conference is the health care reform bill that is being vehemently denied by some Republicans and Democrats in Congress. In the midst of a monumental economic crisis, the bill advocates for more insurance options but also will cause a rise in taxes, a rise some politicians think Americans can’t afford.

While this may be true, Obama promises that it will not add to the ever increasing national deficit but lower it by cutting Medicare and Medicaid costs. With unemployment at its highest and the national deficit blowing past the $1 trillion mark, the President is stepping up to assure people that relief is on the way and for everyone’s sake, let’s hope he’s right. Along with health care reform, Obama will address why this has been the deadliest month of the war in Iraq since its 2001 beginnings and his plan for troops in Afghanistan.

The press conference will air on NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNBC and CNN at 8 p.m. ET. Of course Fox declined Obama’s request for air time. They will show the primetime drama, “Lie To Me,” instead.
