After her long time stint as “The Voice Of New York,” on air talent Angie Martinez announced her departure from HOT97. She now joins the ever growing Power 105 family in a move that could possibly shake the New York radio scene. Of course, she went to The Breakfast Club for the exclusive interview that the country has been waiting on.
Since the announcement, the Hip-Hop community is curious to see what kind of domino effect this power move will have on the two stations given the ongoing tension between their respective jockeys.
DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God did not pull a single punch during this 40 minute plus interview. During this Q&A we found out more about Angie’s decision, her feelings on her former employer, how she plans to advance her brand and more.
So we present the top 11 things we learned from The Breakfast Club Angie Martinez interview. Of course hearing her address the unreleased Tupac interview was important, let us know your favorite moment in the comments section.

Charlamagne Tha God
For all the reckless talk Charlamagne has to offer, he admitted to being actually scared to approach Angie when she was still at HOT 97.
The Decision
Angie holds firm that the decision to leave HOT 97 was in her best interests professionally. She wanted to advance her brand and felt Clear Channel, Power 105’s parent company, could provide those opportunities.
Envy
When DJ Envy exited HOT 97 in 2009, he saw a lot of his former coworkers start to act funny with him. Angie shared that at her birthday party she came up to Envy personally and told him “if anybody acts funny to you or strange you tell me because I’ll kick them out of my own party.”
Secrets
The only person who know about her decision was her man, who we assume to be Nikko of Dru Hill. So everyone else, including her mother found out when the world saw her tweet on social media.
Social Media Responds
While Black Twitter erupted when Angie announced her resignation, she didn’t really pay social media any mind. The decision was done already and she wants to concentrate on her work.
Joining The Team
Angie admitted that while she is excited about the move she is very nervous about doing a good job. She is a professional and we are sure she will do just fine.
The Albums
Ironically she avoided her former career as a rapper at all cost.
Radio Beef
When asked why she never got in the middle of the radio wars, she said that it never really mattered enough for her to respond.
Tupac
She has still not released her buried Tupac interview because Pac slandered a lot of people and she doesn’t want to stir any bad feelings many years after.
Jay Z
Angie did not give any hints on who would be her first guest, but the entire room guessed it would be Jay Z. We hope this happens as he has yet to address the Solange fight publicly.
This Is HOT97
When asked about the reality show struggle that was This Is HOT97 she said that she loved filming some days and hated it other days.
