NFL Hall of Famer Warren Sapp was cheering on the USA World Cup team’s loss like every other American, yesterday evening. However, his actions during the game were anything but patriotic.
Sapp’s financial struggle has been well-documented since his retirement from the league in 2003 and his snub on a waitress’ tip did nothing to dispel the notion that he is still broke.
A waitress at the Upper Deck Sports Bar and Grille in Hallandale, Fla outed the former superstar on Twitter when he intentionally left a big zero on the bill line with the message “Boys Don’t Tip.”
The social media story didn’t cast Sapp in the most positive light so he decided to share his side of the story.
“She kept calling us boys so the tip Fit!,” he replied. When one of his followers noticed that Sapp even left before the game (even after ordered a bucket of Heineken beers), he maintained that the service was so horrible, he couldn’t even stick around for the kickoff.
“I left it was horrible and the service was worst,” he tweeted.
Obviously questions still remain in this drama. Was this alleged labeling “boys” as in flirtatious talk or Jim Crow?
