Every music fan can recall a Hip-Hop track or two that will transport them to the days of their youth. No matter if you’re headed to the turn up function or on your commute to and from work, your favorite tunes from back in the day will definitely put you in the right frame of mind.

There have been hundreds of tracks that set the party off in high school and college. We might be a little older and busier now, but all that goes out the window once our jam comes on. There are even select tracks that probably serve no other purpose but to be turned up to the loudest levels as we dust off our running man dances.

Hip-Hop Wired lists some favorite Hip-Hop tracks that will take you back in time. Let us know via the comments section if we left out some of your favorites.

LL Cool J – “Boomin’ System”

Black Sheep – “The Choice Is Yours”

Only thing you need to know: “Engine Engine Number 9, On The New York Transit Line…”

Ahmad – “Back In The Day”

Don’t front, you know you still love this joint.

Wu-Tang Clan – “Method Man”

The Wu-Tang Clan’s b-side to their 1993 debut single “Protect Ya Neck” was arguably the reason why they blew up the way they did.

Q-Tip – “Vivrant Thing”

Q-Tip and the late J Dilla’s pairing on the 1999 Amplified album led to a ton of great joints like this one.

Lauryn Hill – “Doo Wop (That Thing)”

Lauryn Hill’s solo career exploded after this lead single from her The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill album. 16 years later and the song is still relevant.

2Pac – “California Love”

Tupac “2Pac” Shakur’s 1996 LP All Eyez On Me was packed with classic tracks, but many fans point to “California” as their fave.

Digable Planets – “Rebirth Of Slick (Cool Like Dat)”

The trio of Butterfly, Doodlebug and Ladybug Mecca hit it big with this jazzy lead single. We already know your head is bobbing now.

Outkast – “Elevators (Me & You)”

We could spend all day on Outkast’s entire catalog for the right track and come up with a host of bangers for this list. But we don’t think anyone can front on how the sonics on “Elevators” can, ahem, elevate any drive one could take.

Dr. Dre – “Let’s Ride”

Our whole list would be wack if we didn’t include this g-funk banger from Dr. Dre from his classic 1992 album, The Chronic.
