While the term “post-racial” is more cliché than true in the story that is America, lots really has changed. For better or worse, we’ve the advancement of technology, more diverse bodies in higher ed, jobs that would never exist otherwise and the liberty to express our sexual identities.

Earlier this week, yet another world business leader eloquently came out.

“While I have never denied my sexuality, I haven’t publicly acknowledged it either, until now,” wrote Apple CEO Tim Cook in Business Week. “So let me be clear: I’m proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me.”

Cook is but one of a solid handful of world business leaders who are wealthy, powerful and –– openly gay, which is, understandably, not the easiest thing to be, even in a nation as “democratic” as ours.

Hit the gallery to see listed 12 gay and lesbian moguls who dominate in world of finance and decision-making.
