Kendrick Lamar’s NYC blitzkrieg of radio press reached his zenith when he crash landed on The Whoolywood Shuffle with the always entertaining DJ Whoo Kid.
The extended G-Unit family member hilariously kept trying to throw K. Dot off his game with side silliness but there were still plenty of gems to be absorbed in the half-hour sitdown.
The game’s top MC revealed some eyebrow-raising details of his upcoming second album, hanging with LeBron James and another unlikely celebrity as well as the back story behind his current appearance.

Kendrick confirmed that he and George Clinton “vibed out” on a couple of joints that will be released in the near future. After tackling the Isley Brothers’ record, the Black Hippy MC’s old soul is showing in full.

A 10-Year-Old Is Running This Rap Ish
The only person with a copy of the new album is his little brother. (“That’s my A&R right there. He has a sophisticated ear.”) Does that mean he’s about to pull a Beyoncé?

Good Kid, Market Value
Knowing that his 2012 studio debut is considered a classic, Kendrick doesn’t want to be pulled too thin regarding his creativity. “I gotta be drawing some sort of inspiration to do what I do,” he explains. “I’m not in that ballpark where I’m gonna write 100-200 bar raps.”

A Prison Bar Of Hope
While you’re free to sing along with the uplifting message of “i,” Kendrick says it’s dedicated to those doing serious time who feel they’re “not worth sh*t anymore” and the suicidal ones.
Mr. Big Still Got It
Kendrick actually flew out to St. Louis to get permission from Ron Isley to clear the sample for “i” and he impressed the young rapper with his added vocals on the record.

Paid In Full
There were no insinuations of Drake on Jay Rock’s new single, “Pay For It” so don’t reach, struggle rap journalists.

Expect To Not Expect Anything
Kendrick can’t stress enough that even with his recent–and upcoming–funk collaborations, you can’t predict the direction that the new album is going to go in.

Simba Props
While Kendrick and Drake are the leading household names of rap, K. Dot was quick to point out J. Cole gets busy just as good as the both of them. The “Control” list has shrunk considerably.

Woody’s World
Can you imagine Woody Harrelson and K. Dot smoking blunts and kicking it heavy? You just may see that on his upcoming appearance on SNL.

Wild Hair, Don’t Care
Blame Kendrick’s new scruffy look on his work ethic in the studio. (“It’s uncute Kendrick; I don’t want any girls to like me.”)
