One of the pleasant, early T.V. successes of 2015 has been Larry Wilmore’s The Nightly Show with its “Keep It 100” segment. Guests are encouraged to keep it 100% honest with the incentive of either a “Keep It 100” emoji sticker or some audience boos and bags of “weak tea.”

If only the real world had stakes that low. When keeping it 100 backfires, these celebrities found themselves fired, fined, or in the middle of public relations nightmares. Keep reading, and see why sometimes it’s better to keep it 75 and stay employed.

Talib Kweli and Don Lemon

“Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” really was a lot better than whatever Taylor Swift got that MTV VMA for in 2009. Blame the Hennessy for Kanye keeping it 100 and trying to bumrush America’s sweetheart without expecting consequences.

Rob Parker’s RGIII Slander

Another First Take gem found Rob Parker calling NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III a “cornball brother” because Griffin was allegedly a Republican in an interracial relationship. Rob Parker found himself no longer working for ESPN.

Bill Simmons Disses Roger Goodell

The Ray Rice scandal was so controversial that it took out two ESPN employees. Grandland EIC, Bill Simmons, repeatedly called NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell a liar on his BS Report podcast after Goodell claimed to have not seen footage of Rice punching his fiancée. Simmons got a three-week suspension.

Samatha Power Shades Hillary Clinton

Barack Obama was rocking with Samantha Power as a foreign policy adviser during his 2008 Presidential campaign. But Power slipped up and got quoted shading fellow Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton. In order to deflect that heat, Power had to take an L and resign from the campaign.

After decades, we know Phylicia Rashad is on Team Bill Cosby. But she was quoted as saying, “forget those women” in regards to the 30-plus women who alleged Bill Cosby sexually assaulted them. After dying a thousand deaths on Twitter, she probably wishes she didn’t keep it 100.

Given how disrespectful his passenger was, it’s hard not to side with Artis Hughes for giving ol’ girl a Street Fighter II-inspired uppercut. But Hughes got cracked with three days in Jail and a $1,000 fine for punching Sha’dea Lane during that infamous WorldStar video from 2012.
