A feeling of vindication could accurately describe Boston Marathon bombing survivors and those affected from the tragedy now that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been sentenced to death.
Newly appointed Attorney General Loretta Lynch called it “a fitting punishment” and many others on social media have been echoing the sentiment. When Sydney Corcoran’s tweet about Tsarnaev losing his right to live went viral, she had a swarm of holier-than-thou types quick to tell her how she should feel.
Corcoran suffers from Post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of being in the center of the blast and her mother, Celeste, lost both of her legs that dreadful day. Both of them made headlines in July of 2014 when a local TJ Maxx made the ill-advised mistake of kicking her out of the store because she was traveling with her service dog.
Unfettered by the backlash, Corcoran posted, “My mother and I think that NOW he will go away and we will be able to move on. Justice,’’ she continued on her Twitter account. “In his own words, ‘an eye for an eye.’”
Perhaps the most ironic thing is Corcoran admitted she wasn’t a big supporter of capital punishment but when it got personal things changed. A lot of the people attacking her couldn’t seem to grasp that aspect.
Take a look at the Twitter war the spewed in the gallery section below.
