The Derek Fisher era in New York City is over. After just one and a half seasons, the Knicks fired their head coach this morning (Feb. 8).
New York Knicks President Phil Jackson made the announcement via a press release. Although the Knicks are much better than their dismal 2014-2015 season that saw them finish with a franchise worst 17-65 record, their current 23-31 clip was not enough to keep Fish gainfully employed.
Being called a snitch by Derek Barnes—after Fisher got romantically involved with his former friend and teammate’s not yet officially ex-wife—didn’t help his case either.
Kurt Rambis has been named the interim coach.
Needless to say, Twitter is already lit with slander (check the gallery).
