Ghost prides himself on being multiple steps ahead of his enemies and competitors. In this week’s episode of Power, he gets humbled from all angles.
Milan is more than just a connect. He is an omnipresent villain who’s penetrated every aspect of Ghost’s life. He knows Ghost’s entire history like a viewer who binge watched Power so they could live tweet season 3, and he lives to make Mr. St. Patrick’s life a living hell.
Possessing a reputation for ruthless aggression, Milan wastes no time asserting his dominance over Ghost. Milan makes orders, and as we see early on, disobedience is rewarded with an agonizing death. Ghost is powerless against Milan and has to obey his wishes, which include repayment from the season 2 hit on Vladimir by the end of the day, along with moving product in the clubs and hotels! Milan wants Ghost to suffer, along with moving the product and making him rich. This systematic takedown seems to have no way out, as seen by the botched attempt to have Dre tip off the cops to Tatiana missing. Milan knew, and showed up to Ghost’s house, with Tatiana for dinner and a swift reminder that Ghost and his many attachments are a weakness he’s willing to exploit.

Tommy officially moves to his own beat, regardless of the dire circumstances. He won’t help Ghost with the Milan payment, and modifies an order from Milan to kill Father Callahan for his Albanian gun deal involvement. Milan sees Tommy as simple and insignificant, but after disciplining Tommy, he gained a twisted sense of admiration for the ingenuity of “plan B”. Tommy, after inadvertently discovering from Tasha that Holly was pregnant, has nothing to lose, and Milan sees no attachments as a blessing. This effectively saves Tommy’s life, and possibly elevates him in Milan’s master plan.
The Office of Professional Responsibility has arrived to determine who leaked information about Lobos, resulting in his escape and subsequent murder. Their thorough investigation revealed transgressions both known (i.e., Knox stalking Angela, Sandoval’s familiarity with Lobos, Angela rule bending) and unknown (Cooper Saxe’s “personal” problems) to the viewing audience. The presented arguments made compelling cases against every interviewee, and the situation turns critical when they discover that Lobos was murdered.
Knox stays firm that Angela holds to key to Lobos’s death and Sandoval doubles down on that theory to absolve himself of any suspicion confirming himself as the leak. Angela’s character gets challenged, and you can see her transformation from jilted lover to prideful attorney as she refutes any allegations of collusion. Instead, Angela vehemently defends her record, her integrity, and her methods by telling investigators that James St. Patrick didn’t play her, she used him to get to Lobos.
Angela could face the death penalty if implicated in the Lobos murder, so she seeks out the truth in typical Angie fashion. She confronts Tasha (again) about staying at Bassett’s hotel and being an accomplice to Lobos’s murder, and finally confronts Ghost herself. Ghost wants to fix things, but Angela has hit her breaking point, and wants the situation handled. If Angie goes down, so does Ghost.

By the end of the episode, Ghost loses a grip on his son, his deal with Bassett, his drug operation, and his relationship with Angela. With his back to the wall and desperation onsetting, Ghost can either flee or fight. We’ll see what he decides next week.
Power Points:
- Tariq finally jumped out of the window and crossed that line with Tasha, cursing her out during their therapy discussion. He went to that point of no return that we all face as teenagers, and I’m still shocked that neither Tasha nor Ghost knocked him into next week.
- Kanan is still hooked on lean and still killing people for no reason. No matter what this character does on screen, it’s still shocking to see. He has a plan to mentally break Ghost down, and how this storyline progresses, given everything else, will be interesting to see.
- Tommy has exhibited a variety of emotions this season. Now he looks to redeem himself, while showing apathy for his own life. He has become an unpredictable x factor and that doesn’t bode well for anyone.
- Tasha still covers for Ghost, and now in the middle of his feud with Milan. Everyone in Ghost’s life has become vulnerable
- How will Ghost get the hotel deal back on track? Bassett seems to like him, and Dre likes Bassett too. Keep your emoji eyes open for those developments.
- What will Dre ultimately do: Betray Ghost or Kanan? Attempting to get closer to Ghost by betraying Milan could place him on the hit list too.
