The Wire creator and writer David Simon took cues from Quentin Tarantino this week with his unusual comfort in using the n-word at will. Twitter caught wind of Simon’s shenanigans and have completely obliterated him, and deservedly so.

Simon hopped on Twitter on Monday (Sept. 19) and mocked conservative pundit Sean Hannity and GOP presidential candidate Donald Tump. The pair will be holding a town hall today to address issues within the Black community. Simon, who simply couldn’t help himself or thought he was channeling Omar Little, made a hell of a gaffe by employing the n-word even if he meant it in the name of comedy.

Hannity my n*gga! If they couldn’t get Ta-Nehisi or Deray to host, then who but you on the pulse of black America,” tweeted Simon. When called out on it, Simon tried to defend his use of the term and Twitter put their collective feet onto Simon’s neck.

Look, we get it. The n-word flies quite about in Hip-Hop music and it had quite a lot of usage on Simon’s show. However, that doesn’t give anyone license or liberty to just let the gat spray and n-word the whole block like you own it. Simon’s show is and should remain to be seen as a classic, but he’s all the way out of pocket for this one.

Below and on the following pages, we’ve collected Twitter getting David Simon up out the paint in rapid fashion. If we missed a favorite, let us know in the comments.
