Do we really have to warn you about spoiler?

After crippling Cottonmouth’s drug operation and ultimately getting him locked up for murdering detective Scarfe, for all intents and purposes it seemed like Luke Cage had finally gotten justice for Barbershop Pops, right? Well, not necessarily.

There are still a few loose ends left to address, namely Diamondback, Shades, and councilwoman Mariah Dillard. While they may seem like side dishes to the big fish that was Cottonmouth, they still pose a credible threat to the peace in life that Luke so desperately wants to achieve.

What role will they play now that Cottonmouth is in cuffs? Let’s find out shall we?

Here’s a quick recap of Marvel’s Luke Cage, Episode 7: Manifest.

Who You Callin’ A Bitch?

Though Cornell ‘Cottonmouth’ Stokes was arrested for the murder of Detective Scarfe, there wasn’t enough hard evidence to keep him locked up. Much to the dismay of Misty Knight, Cottonmouth must be set free but didn’t leave before taking some parting shots to the hard-nosed detective and referring to Misty as a “bitch” with a bone who can’t let go. So disrespectful. A certain presidential candidate would be proud.

New Sheriff In Town

Because of the messiness that’s plagued the Cottnmouth case from the get-go (including two crooked cops), Captain Betty Audrey a.k.a Kima from The Wire, has been relieved of her duties and Inspector Ridley has been put in charge to overlook Misty Knight’s moves. This isn’t sitting too well with Misty given her history with the new Inspector.

Frenemy

A frenemy by the name of Damon Boone pays the councilwoman a visit. Asks her to step down and let him take her place. That didn’t go over so well with her, but afterwards Shades was able to give her a pep talk about stepping up and handling her business.

Good Boy Gone Bad

In his teenage years Cornell seemed to have had a gift for playing the piano but instead of nurturing it, Mama Mabel was grooming him to take over the family business by showing him to cut fingers off workers who disobeyed orders. Meanwhile cousin Mariah was studying for a bright future in politics.

Get Down Or Lay Down

Knowing he had to get Luke Cage to get in line or get out of town, Cottonmouth arranges a meeting with the man and offers to keep Carl Lucas’s secret past under wraps as long as Luke Cage works for him. Knowing he’d go back to Seagate if Cornell dropped dime, Luke was ready to break boogie before Clair convinced him to stay and fight.

Muchas Gracias

Luke pays Domingo a visit and repossesses the artillery that Scarfe stole out of police lockup. He also helped himself to a brand new hoodie courtesy of Domingo’s boxing gym.

Family First, Blood

Cornell’s first body was that of the only man who believed in his talent, Uncle Pete. At the urging of Mama Mabel and Mariah (who claimed that Pete basically “Trumped” her), Stokes reluctantly popped a hot one into his favorite uncle and made things realer than an innocent child who turned killer.

Family Affair

After getting canned by the chairwoman of her board, ex-councilwoman Dillard got into a heated argument with Cottonmouth about how he handles his business. Stokes might’ve crossed the line when he suggested that Mariah seduced Uncle Pete which in turn caused her to lose it and bludgeon him to death with a microphone stand. Shades walks in on the carnage and is actually delighted to see that Mariah stepped up. He also decides that Luke Cage should take the fall for the murder.

Take It Personal

Taking a quiet stroll through the hood with Clair, Luke catches a specialized hot one from a hitman who says the hit is “one Judas for another.” Jesus take the wheel!
