Ludacris finally achieved his dream of opening his “Chicken and Beer” restaurant at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport.
When Ludacris first announced that he was opening up a new restaurant at the airport back in 2012, people expected to be open within months. But, as we all should know, opening a restaurant is different from dropping a mixtape. So it took Luda three years, and some string pulling to finally get it done.
“It took me three years, but it’s finally coming to fruition,” Luda says in an Instagram clip. “Anything that’s worth waiting for is worth having. And we are finally here: Chicken and Beer. I’ve seen it come from my third album, triple-platinum album, all the way to a restaurant.”
The restaurant will provide plenty of “Southern Hospitality” with a menu that features the obvious, chicken and beer, as well as bourbon peach short cake, Southern fried apple pie and battered catfish.
Ludacris shut down his successful Midtown Atlanta restaurant Straits to make way for opening this venture. There was a brief controversy in 2012 when it was reported that he and Jay Z were battling for space at the Atlanta Airport. Jay wanted to open a 40/40 Club there, but Luda was able to lean on the Mayor’s office and City Council to something done.
There’s nothing like a hometown advantage.
Chicken and Beer is located on Concourse D if you ever traveling through the A and want to check it out.
