9 Things We Learned From Rotimi On The Breakfast Club

The latest season of Power is in full swing and if your timeline isn’t riddled with shocked references to the show you wouldn’t know that things are as lit as Nas when he was live at the BBQ. Today (Aug. 3), one of the stars from the Starz hit series, Rotimi a.k.a Dre, stopped by The Breakfast Club to plug his latest EP Jeep Music, and puts his fans on to some of the lesser known aspects of his life.

Touching on subjects from almost signing to T.I.’s label a few years ago to his spiritual connection to the late Bob Marley (pardon me, y’all, the great Bob Marley), Rotimi’s road to success seems more destined than your favorite child.

1. Starz Power

Rotimi says that Starz won’t push Power to 13 episodes because Power is “one of those show that they don’t really have to put money behind. They realizing that the people gonna speak for it on it’s own.”

2. Sexual Feelings

Now that he’s famous Rotimi says the hardest part about his sex life is “having self-control” because it’s so “accessible” now. The life of a celebrity. This is why people hate.

3. Power Soundtrack

He says that they’ve been trying to get 50 Cent to do a Power soundtrack for a minute, but he’s not trying to go there for artistic reasons.

4. Jeep Music

His EP Jeep Music was inspired by an old relationship. It’s named after the white Jeep his ex is known to drive in New Jersey.

5. T.I.

T.I. was originally going to sign Rotimi back in 2013, but he says that he was more into acting than he was singing. Now he’s signed to 50.

6. SZA

Rotimi says he went to high school with SZA and remembers no one knew she could sing because she never sang around anybody.

7. Nudity

He confirms that there’s a nudity clause in his contract so he will eventually get to knock some boots on the show. Be patient ladies.

8. Jay-Z

Rotimi went to school with Jay-Z’s nephews and was actually in a group with them called Natural Born Hustlers. He says Jay used to have them go to his crib and perform all their songs for him. Unfortunately, Jay never signed them.

9. Bob Marley

Rotimi recounts how his mother had a dream with Bob Marley where he told her “your son is going to finish my legacy.” Talk about pressure in life.
