The #1 selling basketball video game and #1 rated NBA simulation is upping the ante for fanatics of the NBA 2K franchise. “NBA 2K10” will feature an all star line-up of artists on the soundtrack for the game ranging from 808s and Heartbreak spitter, Kanye West to Florida Hip-Hop heavyweights, Flo Rida and Ace Hood. 2K Sports plans to expound on promotion for the project through mix tapes, exclusive music downloads, music videos, live performances and music tours.
Additionally fans will have the opportunity to see some of their favorites immortalized in the game including Kanye, The Game, Asher Roth and David Banner. Before inking the deal to be featured on the soundtrack, Flo Rida gave HipHopWired insight on why he chose music as his craft. The Carol City native humbly expressed that he doesn’t rap for the revenue and the limelight; he does it for the love of the fans.
“I mean, I just enjoy putting a smile on my fans’ face everywhere I go. Everyone loves me, they love my humble attitude and everything. So that’s what really counts with me; that I touch people in a way where they feel like I’m down-to-earth and everything cause I don’t want to be looked at as the person who thinks he’s above all, because I come from nothing and I thank god for the situation. So if I could bless someone by shaking a hand and signing an autograph, it’s all good. I feel like just being able to sell records is all good but at the same time, you need to be able to still have your people, your fans, loving you for you.”
Fellow Florida representative, Ace Hood, co-signed on Flo Rida’s sentiments. He added however that after seeing his fans react to his presence he knew he was a star.
“When I look in the people’s eyes, I would say the reaction from the fans. The first time someone ever acknowledged me as Ace Hood like you know what, “Ace Hood got this crazy record out right now,”…that’s when I actually was like you know what, I’m a star. When I walk out into an arena and you know thousands of people are screaming for Ace Hood, that’s when I realized I’m a star. When I wake up every day and be like you know what I’m a star, this is what I do. This is what God put me on this earth to do, this is what the people love.”
