Jamie Foxx Bringing Showtime At The Apollo To BET

BET is looking to bring long-running syndicated variety show Showtime At The Apollo to their cable network.

The network is close to finalizing a deal for a Showtime at the Apollo pilot, that will be executive produced by Jamie Foxx, along with the show’s original executive producer/director Don Weiner.

If the series is picked up, Showtime is expected to air as a primetime series on BET, and continue the tradition of the Apollo Theater’s Amateur Night.

After 21 year on air, Showtime At The Apollo ended in 2008. Weiner has since acquired the rights to the TV series.

Ironically, as a young comedian, Jamie Foxx was booed off the Showtime at the Apollo stage. But as Chris Brown would say, “Look At Me Now.”

If BET does pick up Showtime At The Apollo, this would be the best move they’ve made since bringing back The Game.

Thank you, BET.
