Cormega Discredits MTVs Hottest MCs; Bashes Drake

“I don't listen to MTV, cuz they talking about MCs, but they didn't even name MCs, they named rappers.  There's a difference between a rapper and an MC.”

Cormega can be deemed as an artist that specializes in his craft and as a rapper/MC it only makes sense that he would have the ability to weigh in on what works for the art form.

Calling into Street Disciplez Radio, the Queens rapper spoke on his overall issue with the Canadian sensation known as Drake.  Feeling as though the last 5 had more pull than the top 5, Cormega went in on the newcomer stating that his past discredits him from staying true to the Hip-Hop blueprint.

“I can't f%^k with Drake. I like Drake as a young man trying to make money but I can't take him serious because for one he's rich…I don't like when these spoiled rich kids just get into rap cause it's something they could do…and they start rappin about a life they never lived.  Go do something else.  If I could switch with you, I would be the rich goody goody my whole life.  Ni**as like us rap about sh&% because we lived it these ni**as use rap as a hobby.”

Whatever the case may be for Drake's motivation, it cannot be denied that the potential is there and the fact that Drake stands above many other artists.  Certain artists that rap about what they have lived have started to come off as carbon copies and very bad replicas so it is necessary to have a transition and establish that balance.

If Hip-Hop is meant to touch all audiences, it only makes sense that the same audiences have the right to sound off even though some interpretations are useless at best.

For every negative in life, however, there is a positive and both sides of the fence must be given commentary.

Tuesday, October 20 will see the return of the rapper who has been gone since 2005's release The Testament. Born And Raised will be yet another notch in the revival of New York rap as the scene was essentially destroyed due to battles within and the days of rebuilding have continued.

“But yall the reason for a lot of my devotion/You know I spend money because spending time is hopeless/And know I pop bottles cuz i bottle my emotions/At least I put it all in the open.” –Drake “Fear”

    I'm going to start of by saying, yes, I'm from Toronto as well, I dont know Drake personally, but I find it funny that Cormega would *****ume that Drake is spoiled because he's rich, that's like saying, everyone in the hood will rob you, no. That is wrong. I'm from the hood, still in the hood, I never rob anybody, killed *****ody, non of that. One thing I love about the hood is that you can absorb your environmental surrounding, 'nd that ability allowed me to read people's character without knowing them. For instance, Cormega says Drake is spoiled, 'nd is potentially taking the position of those who could so the same, so in other words, Drkae is stealing food from another individual's plate, let's see;
    1st- look at the state of hip-hop itself, the qualities that Cormega was talking about in a rapper, a perfect example Jay-Z, he came from the same struggle, but he still imbraced the talent of Drake, he didn't say "ooh, if Drake's not from the hood I'm not doing a song with him"
    2nd- look at his interviews, you see that Drake is not the brat that everyone wants him to be, he shows a humble side to himself, regardless of income.
    3rd- spoiled kids never want to make their own money they just want to live of their parents, so why is he any different. The Degr*****i show that he has been on, it is not like American shows, where they get $200,000 per episode, if they are lucky maybe $1-2000.
    4th- why must Hip-Hop be the only way people in the projects get out, Hip-Hop is an art. By Cormega saying that he should try something else is similar to saying poor people, or financially unstable people should not play in bands, because it's only a hobby or whatever.
    5th- the audience is always the innocent, 'nd open to all as Cormega said, so why is it they the audience favor Drake's music over those he considers "MCs". It's because he people are tired of listening to things the cannot relate to. Lets keep it real 100% of the audience dont live in the hood, so why would they tune in to something they dont understand, 'nd if they did, you would likely say that they were fake. If Cormega wanted "MCs" to get shine he would shout them out, every single chance he had to, but instead, he wastes interviews 'nd says who are the "MCs" in the Hip-Hop game, 'nd who is not.
    6th- if anything Drake is role model to young people getting rich, because he has had money before, he knows how to manage it. On the other hand a person like Souljah Boy, could possibly go broke because he has never had money like this before.

    I could continue but I dont want to bore people who read this, if the even read this at all, all I'm saying is find the light in dark situations, 'nd stop complaining. If your a musician express yourself in your art, because not everyone can do that, that's why you get paid ( you have a quality that the majority do not possess) dont do it in interviews.

    What do you think ?

    BooM!
