Update: Man Tortured By Police Responds To Ex-Police Lieutenant Conviction [Video]
As previously reported Ex-Chicago police lieutenant Jon Burge was found guilty Monday of perjury after prosecutors say he lied and tried to cover up the brutal torture of suspects in the 1970's and ‘80s.
Since his conviction one of his victims has come forward to express his joy for finally receiving justice.
Mark Clements told media outside of the courtroom that he was 16-years-old when he fell victim to Burge and his officers and was beaten into giving a false confession.
The falsely convicted man spent 27 years in prison for arson and murder but was finally released last August after the circumstances surrounding his "confession" were revealed.
An emotional Clements told reporters,
“I was 16-years-old and these people stole my Fawking life! I hate to tell you the truth but I sat in a prison cell and I prayed for this day!”
Prosecutors plan on trying several other officers involved in the torture cases where they say suspects were electrocuted, burned and taunted with Russian roulette.
Check out Clements' reaction to the conviction below.
