  Saw Janet live and she PERFORMED and she started her show on time. I think your onto something as far as the other performers, but Ms. Jackson doesn't disappoint dancing and singing live. She transitions into one costume to the next effortlessly, looking fabulous. I bet Beyonce or any other commercially successful performer watches footage of Janet.

  Kelis can sing her A$$ off. You just don't like her voice. Listen to her first album and then say she can't sing. Janet has a beautiful tone. It isn't always about being loud. She has a beautiful voice. Beyonce is annoying to the nth degree. Screaming and yelling is not singing. Mary J Blige will never win a technically flawless vocal contest. She is all over the place vocally, when she is live. Keysha Cole is gifted vocally. She reminds me of Mary, but on key.

  LOL Keyshia Cole is actually a very good singer. I agree with some of those you listed, but it's not fair to claim certain people who obviously CAN sing (Keri Hilson for example) are not good because they don't sing like Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston.

  I'm sorry to say but Aaliyah was a terrible live singer. She could hold a note but that young lady wasn't a good singer by any means. She once performed on that (old) Vibe tv show and she sounded like she was in a damn blender with her shaky voice A$$.

  People keep saying "just listen to so and so's album" but I think the point of the list was to point out that of course they are good studio singers, they just aren't good vocally without the studio help.

  Brandy has a really good live singing voice without help so I would encourage anyone who hasn't heard her to check her out on youtube.

  Great live performance (dancing, flashing lights, flowing hair) does not equal ability to sing. It means they know how to put on a show.

  Where is Mary J Blige on the list? I'm not trying to hate on her status as "Queen of Hip Hop/R&B", becasue she was really the first to sing to a hip hop beat. That's fine and dandy.

  As a 'sanger'??? I must disagree. While I have never been to a Mary J concert, we have all seen award shows, etc, where she is singing live and sounds terrible. Its hard to find any of those performances where she actually sounds GOOD all the way through.
