Jamie Foxx Says Spike Lee “Doesn’t Like Anybody,” Calls Django Unchained Critique “Irresponsible”
The fight between Spike Lee, and just about everybody else who supports Django Unchained, doesn’t appear to be fading, and now Jamie Foxx has entered the fray.
Foxx, was overseas promoting the film’s release, and when asked of Lee’s comments on the film’s storyline, he concluded that the Brooklyn native is pretty much always on the attack.
“The question for me is: where is Spike Lee coming from?” he wondered. “He didn’t like Whoopi Goldberg, he doesn’t like Tyler Perry, he doesn’t like anybody. I think he’s sort of run his course. I mean, I respect Spike, he’s a fantastic director. But he gets a little shady when he’s taking shots at his colleagues without looking at the work. To me, that’s irresponsible.”
No matter the criticism Django has done well at the box office, surpassing $100 million, stands as director, Quentin Tarantino’s most successful work, and received five Oscar nominations.
A line of Django action figures were released ahead of the film last fall, but garnered heavy criticism. The manufacturers have since announced that the figurines will no longer be produced.
