Odd Future’s Tyler, The Creator has been criticized heavily for his foul language and hom0phobic lyrics present in his music. It all appears to be part of his shtick, as he says he knew that crew member Frank Ocean was gay before the crooner publicly came out.

In the newest Rolling Stone issue, the 22-year-old Los Angeles native spoke candidly about Ocean’s s-xual orientation and discussed his use of gay slurs as well.

From Rolling Stone:

Did you know Frank Ocean was gay before he came out last year?

Yeah, I was one of the first people he told. I kinda knew, because he likes Pop Tarts without frosting on them, so I knew something was weird. [Laughs] But that’s my n-gga.

Do you think he cares about you using the word “f-ggot”?

He knows me, and he knows I don’t care about being gay. It’s just another word to me. The same as “n-gga.” Let’s say Frank started using the word “f-g,” just jokingly. People would be so f-cking confused! They wouldn’t know what to do. And it could take the power out of that word.

Tyler is gearing up for the release of his third solo album Wolf, which drops on April 2. He goes on to mention in the interview why he doesn’t have big features such as Kendrick Lamar and Drake on his record. “I don’t need people’s help. I see famous people being friends when I know they don’t fucking even like each other,” explained the brash rapper and producer.
