11-Year-Old “Lion King” Star Backed By Rihanna, 50 Cent, Loses Battle With Leukemia
Shannon Tavarez, the 11-year-old actress starring in Broadway’s “The Lion King” succumbed to her battle with Leukemia Monday.
Tavarez was aided by various celebrities including Rihanna and 50 Cent in looking for a bone marrow match.
In August, 50 held a bone marrow drive that attracted over 4,000 participants but none were found to be a match for the young girl.
The soprano from Queens, New York was given an umbilical-cord transplant as an alternative.
