Danny Brown and his infamous toothless grin played well with his hard-partying image and dexterous rhyme flows. Fans of that look, however, will have to roll with a new version of the grin after Kentucky Fried Chicken helped pay for the Detroit rapper’s dental reconstructive surgery. Brown, enjoying a great first week of sales for his third album, Old, has been sporting the chipped-tooth look since emerging as one of Hip-Hop’s most exciting rappers. In a 2011 Detroit Metro Times interview, Brown explained how being hit by a car outside a KFC parking lot started his dental woes. Speaking with Pitchfork recently for a phone interview, Brown shared the news that the fried chicken company covered the costs for his new teeth. From Pitchfork’s Tumblr:

Following the success of his gritty hip-hop opus Old, Danny Brown turned back the clock yesterday with reconstructive dental surgery, funded entirely by Kentucky Fried Chicken. Why? The 32-year-old Detroit rapper chipped his front teeth several years ago when he was struck by an oncoming car in a KFC parking lot. KFC offered Brown an apology last Monday and agreed to cover the $2,200 price tag for Brown’s two new porcelain veneers.

Brown planned to get his teeth fixed after Old debuted at No. 17 on the US Billboard 200, including taking some fashionable cosmetic measures. “I wanted to f-ckin’ celebrate,” Brown said. “At first I was gonna get my teeth plated. Then I’d call my next album Gold.” Hit the jump to see the full-size picture. [Props to AllHipHop] — Photo: Pitchfork
