Love him or hate him, Wale is one of Rap’s most interesting personas. This shined through in his latest interview with The Breakfast Club.
His new release The Album About Nothing is finally out and brings his fans closer to who Folarin really is.
DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God got the DC native to discuss working with Jerry Senfield, his cousin’s death, experiencing a miscarriage, getting his respect and more.

1. Nothing
Working wth Jerry Senfield was very insightful as Wale explained that the comedian inspires a lot of the rapper’s day to day inner monologue.
2. The Album
Jerry also inspired Wale to make “The White Shoes” song which deals about the vanity of African Americans.
3. Go Go
Wale wants to an entire album of Go Go music which a sub genre associated with Funk that originated in DC.
4. Loss
Wale also admitted his cousin died shortly after seeing the birth of his first child. Now Wale and the rest of his crew have made a promise to be there for his child.
5. Wrestling
When asked why he is so passionate about wrestling, he explained that he is a fan of any art form where you got to think on your toes. He also mentioned that when you really analyze the amount of work to putting together a storyline, you understand it is deeper than finishing moves and flying tables.
6. White Privilege
He also stated that white artists, specifically Iggy Azalea and Sam Smith, get more access than artists of color who are pretty much making the same material. Wale stated that Iggy clearly borrowed from Trina and Sam Smith sounds like Tank. You agree?
7. Meek
He also clarified there are no more problems between him and Meek. Wale said they both grew up from when Meek lashed out on him. He also said falling in love with Nicki Minaj has made the Philly rapper more balanced.
8. For The Fans
He states albums like his, Kendrick Lamar’s and Drake’s are for the fans in terms of how the material is delivered to the masses. The day of his album release Wale announced he was doing a secret show at famed performance hall S.O.B.’s so his true could really share in the moment with him.
9. Kicks
Wale is known as a serious sneaker head. He said at the end of his stint with Roc Nation him, Jay Z and OG Juan were trying to make a Wale sneaker happen. He currently has some offers on the table to create some shoes for different lines.
10. Anxiety Attacks
Wale also admitted that he now suffers from anxiety attacks. When asked if he had these medical issues prior to being in the music industry and he said no.
