Sometimes it is necessary to do some spring cleaning a little early.  Hip Hop has come at a time where repetition has been heavy and there is a lack of innovation in what is being broadcasted to the masses in the mainstream.

With that said, there comes a time when a person must take the first step to create change and 2010 is the best outlet to showcase something new to the Hip Hop Arena.

“Is It Love”

Here we have rapper Kendrick Lamar, an artist on the rise hailing from Compton, California.  Along with artists such as Fashawn, the young talent is another voice looking to represent the West Coast.  While most were looking for the anticipated mixtapes from Juelz Santana and Fabolous, which STILL haven’t dropped, Lamar blessed the Internet with his EP The Kendrick Lamar EP on New Year’s Eve.

Call it an introduction, the EP provides the beginning for a kid that simply wants to rap and his name, like Obie Trice, entails that he is far from gimmicks and only wants to provide something for the listeners to vibe to.

It’s time to stop worrying about how the veterans will save Hip Hop and give the newcomers the chance to show what they can give to the genre.  How can you progress is all you’re worried about is what was instead of realizing what is?  Adapt to time.
