This, is a heater. The Bullitts drop a song called “They Die By Dawn” featuring Yasiin Bey (f/k/a the mighty Mos Def), the enigmatic Jay Electronica and actress Lucy Liu. That line up means that an in depth explanation is necessary.
Bey and Electronica drop bars and Lucy Liu narrates, while The Bullitts, who is also working on The Great Gatsby soundtrack with Jay-Z, is actually musician, filmmaker, writer and producer Jeymes Samuel. The song served as the inspiration for a short film Samuels created called They Die By Dawn. “‘They Die By Dawn’ is the definitive sound of the Bullitts,” Jeymes told Rolling Stone, which premiered the track. “It’s the epitome of what I call ‘creating from the hip.'”
The movie is Western and features a sick cast that includes Michael K. Williams, Erykah Badu, Isaiah Washington and Rosario Dawson. The film is accompanied by an album, titled They Die By Dawn and Other Short Stories, which is due in stores June 4th via Kilburn Lane Music.
