2 Chainz should be having a pretty good week since he is performing at the MTV VMAs this Sunday. However, the Atlanta rapper was arrested in Oklahoma last night after an alleged standoff between the authorities and the occupants of his tour bus.
TMZ reports:
Rapper 2 Chainz was on board the tour bus involved in a police standoff in Oklahoma last night … and he’s already been arrested in connection with the incident.
TMZ broke the story … 2 Chainz’ tour bus was pulled over in OKC around midnight after police noticed its taillights were out. When they approached the vehicle, cops say they noticed signs of drug use and attempted to board the bus.
But the bus driver locked the police out, insisting they obtain a warrant first.
Police did just that and eventually entered the bus hours later, where they arrested 11 passengers for “interfering with the police process,” including 2 Chainz.
The authorities say they indeed found drugs on the bus, but the have not revealed what those illegal substances were. Weed, maybe? Just guessin.
The “Spend It” rapper is out of jail and took to Twitter to vent his frustration and plead his innocence. “Don’t ask me ask OKC police department what they found on the bus,,,,u won’t get an answer because nuthn was found,” he tweeted today around 3:30 p.m. ET. “This sh-t will make u go crazy , our bus gets pulled 1 a week and they always say I smell weed I need to search ur bus. Sht gets tiring.”
2 Chainz has an album listening session tonight in NYC and it seems that he will be making the VMAs as scheduled, too. He tweeted, “NYC I’m on the way ……#MEtime”
Hip-Hop Wired reached out 2 Chainz’s representatives but they declined to comment. His new album, B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time, is in stores September 10.
