As expected, Mike WiLL Made It’s whirlwind year is closing out with a bang as Spin’s artist of the year is now officially a music mogul. The news comes courtesy of his Instagram account where the ubiquitous producer posted a photo of him none other than Jimmy Iovine with the caption, “Label Deal | Interscope Records at brunch Salute to my manager @fakeworksince1978 and Jimmy Iovine #EardrumaRecords is official.”
The picture depicts the beatmaker born Michael Williams, his manager DJ Mormile and the Interscope Records CEO enjoying a festive Christmas brunch while Mike WiLL scribes his autograph on the weighty contract.
2013 was privy to see Mike WiLL’s production featured amongst the likes of Jay Z (Magna Carta Holy Grail), Kelly Rowland (“Kisses Down Low”) and Lil Wayne (“Love Me”) but the apparent cause for his mainstream presence came from his affiliation and alleged sexual relationship with Miley Cyrus.
The former child star-turned shock singer released a multi-platinum single with “We Can’t Stop” and allowed Mike WiLL to executive producer her Bangerz album as well as produce eight tracks on the project.
With a yet-to-be released mixtape (possibly album now) in #MikeWiLLBeenTrill coming in 2014 and a secret phone call with Michael Jordan in the books, 2014 is set to be as equally as promising.
