Musically speaking, Hip-Hop just had a hell of a week. Because we know that you good folks’ busy lives impede you from keeping up with the Joneses, we’ve listed the best tunes as we saw it via The Wrap Up: Hip-Hop Wired’s Top 10 Songs Of The Week.

This may be the most well balanced assortment of tracks to date, since music came from rappers from across the country. A group of newcomers and veteran MCs brought their A-game in a way that has us optimistic for what 2014 will bring. We’re particularly impressed by what we heard from some West Coast MCs, and that goes double for a Los Angeles kid we literally just heard of moments ago.

A southern wordsmith put some pressure on us because he released a handful of tracks that all could have been listed. Nevertheless, we won’t hold you any longer. Bless your ears via The Wrap Up on the following pages.

10. Lil Wayne – “Moment”

At this point, we don’t expect Weezy to deliver anything groundbreaking, but he dropped a tune worth a spin or two with this one.

9. Kent Money ft. Hit-Boy, B-Mac The Queen, Audio Push, N.No & B. Carr – “Home Alone”

Hit-Boy has an incubator of talent in his HS87 clique. And that’s with the beats and rhymes if you didn’t know. Let this be a warning.

8. Big K.R.I.T. – “Egyptian Cotton”

The Mississippi spitter unleashed a track a day for his #WEEKOFKRIT series. Needless to say that he provided ample audible blessings.

7. Prodigy & Roc Marciano  “In Heaven’s Home” (Prod. By The Alchemist)

This is that quality street music we wish we heard more. Relish in this moment, folks.

6. Big K.R.I.T. – “Wolf On Wall Street”

A few of Krizzle’s #WEEKOFKRIT releases could have made this list, but this song in particular stood out like a sore thumb.

5. Big Sean – “Sanctified”

We’d have no gripes with Sean’s verse on Rick Ross’ Mastermind standout if it weren’t for one struggle bar. We’ll let you be the judge.

4. The LOX – “New York”

The rap veterans are on a tear, and have been representing the Big Apple the entire way. Expect nothing but bars.

3. DJ Premier & Stage Soul Music – “March 9th” (Biggie Tribute)

There’s no rapping on this cut, but the song’s feel and Hip-Hop aesthetic is so authentic that it had to be number three. Biggie would have killed this Premo beat too.

2. Mac Miller ft. Da$h, Ab-Soul, Vince Staples & Retch  “Amen”

To those who slander this new generation whenever a chance presents itself, press play above. Now, shut your mouth.

1. Cozz  Dreams Prod. Meez

Other regions of the country need to understand that West Coast MCs are playing for keeps. Let this young MC be further proof, as he rhymes from the heart about grown man issues at a young age. Art imitates life people. Tune in.
